We met up and decided to have a friendly run. Our first race we started from 40, I pulled on him until about 60. We stayed even for a second, but then from 80 to 100 he pulled and he finished between 1-1.5 carlengths ahead, we shut it down then.
From there we went to do a standing start launch. We both brake torqued(auto) and from launch I stayed ahead until about 60, when his turbo spooled and by 80 he was between 1-1.5 carlengths ahead. We ran twice, both outcomes being the same.
I had put about 80 miles on just before the race so my engine was heat soaked.
Here are the specs of the pickup
Mid 80's Toyota Pickup
7M-GTE Engine swap with 4AT
Running between 8-10PSI vs 6PSI stock
Reworked single Blitz turbo
Exhaust
He had no intercooler which is why he only upped the boost by a few PSI.
The pickup curb weight is between 800-1000LBS less than the MKIII Supra.
1999 Saab 9-3 4AT
K&N Air filter
Reworked Throttle transition
MBC at about 13PSI(drops to about 10 after 4500RPM with stock intercooler)
No cat
2.5" Custom Exhaust
So, it was a good race. I think after a chip/downpipe/vic I would be able to keep up past 80 if not be quicker. Any comments? Suggestions? Any info appreciated.
Mike
