Downpipe and a separate pipe for the wastegate

Back in Sept. Brad posted some impressive dyno numbers illustrating the effect of exhausting the wastegate gases to the atmosphere. The current theory is the gases from the wastegate are creating either a flow "blockage" or backpressure for the exiting turbine gases. Kevin K has suggested that having a 2.5" (ID)downpipe for the turbo and a separate 1.25" (ID) pipe for the wastegate, connecting back to the downpipe near the cat. would be a good way to negate it. Now I'm wondering which is more effective, the 3" downpipe or Kevin K's idea. Has anyone tried Kevin's idea, or would it be that difficult to cobble something up? The idea of separate pipes would eliminate the effect completely but what other issues are associated with it?
