The car is ready ..finally!
It was bad timing, since the Saab dealership was closed for the first two weeks of January (inventory work) and we couldn't get the parts. Things weren't as awful as it originally seemed; the radiator and oilcooler were repaired, as the only broken parts were the tabs holding them in place. Found the A/C from the company that manufactures them for half the Saab price -the only engine part replaced was the I/C. Also found hood and wing second hand, and the right headlight was repaired, so the bill was somehow reduced.
A guy on this board has 245 tires on his 9-3, and claims no rubbing -that's a good sign. Hirsch uses 235/40/17 on ET42. Viggen rims have ET38, that means that 225 has no chance of rubbing when the wheels are turned, and 235 will have less (or would that be more?) clearance by 4mm -I know what offset is, I just can't visualize if more offset would provide better or worse clearance when turning the wheels.
I'll probably be forced to fit these tires on the rims before buying them to check side clearance for certain...
