Independent Rear suspesions...

Rainy day, SPG in the shop, totally bored yesterday...
So I'm looking at our new 9-5 Aero yesterday, I got to thinking about independent rear suspensions...
I know several out there were ambitious enought to make the conversion to a rear engine/RWD 99/C900. Anybody try creating/fabricating/adapting an independent rear end to a 99/900?
How about converting to front engine/RWD?
Was thinking you could remove that poor excuse for a transmission, eliminate the weak link all together, fabricate a drysump oil supply, thus lowering the engine and overall C/G. Swap engine ends in the process, of course.
Transmission would be a problem unless you're willing to cut the floor pan to fit in the transmission hump/tunnel.
Unless of course you placed the transmission in the rear end a'la C5 Corvette...
Hmmm, the possibilites!
Hmmm, the cost!!!
Thoughts and discussion appreciated... ;-)
