Hi !
To get a "problem" with turbo lag, because of I/C size, you will need a very big I/C, and I mean big.....
But as you say, it should be matched with the need of the engine, there is no need for spending money on something that you do not need.
Then it´s a question of what is big enough, with in some limits it is always a benefit to use a big I/C.
With big I mean an I/C that cools the charge air, without too much pressure loss, not fysical size...

That brings us to the question, what will happen if I fit a bigger I/C on my Saab with Trionic 7 engine management system !

a) Let´s say that in bone stock set up, the engne runs without knocking att fulload.
Then, the power increase will be quite small, there will be a power increase, but it´s small, definatly not worth the money. (??)

b) On the other hand, if the engine runs with some knocking at fulload, the power output will be reduced by the T7, to protect the engine.
So, with better I/C there is a good chance that the engine will run at fulload withot knocking.
In this case there will be a power increase, no doubt.

All this depends on the fuel quality, altitude and climat.
Poor fuel, high altitude, hot climat can to some degree be compensated with a more efficent I/C.

What ever you do, don´t go and buy huge I/C without needing one.....
