...one more thing to consider. When heat moves, it always has to go *to* something *from* something. With convection, it goes to the air from the intercooler. With radiation which is an optical phenomenon, you have to consider what the intercooler "sees". It's sandwiched between the A/C condenser and the radiator, both of which are potentially quite hot. If you do something to the intercooler to increase emissivity, you will increase heat transfer to those two items, and the heat may transfer in the direction opposite of what you want. It may be best for the IC to have a low emissivity to prevent it getting *heated* by the things it's near!
One more point I gotta throw out: I see a lot of folks discussing the rather difficult, involved task of moving the IC in front of the A/C condenser, so the IC gets the coldest air possible. I've got a much simpler, 2-step solution: 1) locate A/C "off" switch 2) push it! :^)
