NGP+, propylene glycol Posted by Kevin K [Email] (#374) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Kevin K) on Tue, 26 Mar 2002 11:28:17 In Reply to: Anyone used/heard of a coolant called NGP+?(long), LarsW, Tue, 26 Mar 2002 08:50:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It has merit, but a bit thick for cold weather climates. direct replacement for some cars, others need wp and/or radiator upgrade. should have a fresh radiator to start with, imho.
Basic thermal props are not as good as reg 50-50 egw, but very high boil point at ambient pressure makes it improve detonation resistance, esp in mod'd engines. Related to 'departure from nucleate boiling' events with conventional coolants.
Negatives include rigorous cleaning, thick when very cold, and not compatible with water, should a leak occur on the road.
Positives include corrosion resistance, no krud build-up, permanent, zero pressure, better knock resistance for mod's eng's. At least C900 is plumbed well for it, where the pump inlet pressure is regulated by the pressure cap.
Note many 200+ mile saabs have doen well on reg antifreeze. MB coolant would be best on std coolant choice.
