Yes, this is where the knock detector thru your APC box starts opening the wastegate. More completely, the APC box takes several inputs, like boost pressure, RPM, knock into account to essentially come up with a number representing the stress on the engine. If this number is greater than the preset number, the wastegate is opened thru actuating the APC valve. When you redbox, make sure the car is in great tune and replace the FPR with a 3 bar one and set timing at 18 degrees , or better still, get electronic timing like the MSD many people here on this board use.
