I haven't really had any problems with my 225's on my car. I have intrax/koni's & like you stated, they are on a 7 in wide rim with I beleive a 33 offset. Originally I would ocasionally get a little rubbing on the front right spring itself but I then realized the spring itself was not seated properly in it's mount & after that was fixed, all is better now :o) Presently I don't have any pics of the side of my car but I can take some in a few days & send them your way. However the rims do not stick out of the tirewell at all :o) I also beleive that the combination of a .5 in wider rim as well as a 40 series tire could make the tire have a wider footprint then my setup which in turn might cause the tires to be close enough to rub on the wheel arches when pushed hard. I have attended 2 drivers schools (neither of which I have been able to complete) & there was zero rubbing anywhere! On my other 88 SPG I actually just ordered a second set of forgeline WC-3's & I will be using Toyo Proxes RA-1's on that car in the 225-40-18 variation. Unfortunantly Toyo doesn't make that tire in a 35 series (at least not yet) so a 40 is what I am doing. These tires are track tires but can be used on the street so it's going to be interesting! I will also have coilovers on the car so I will need to mess with the ride heigth a good bit to ensure I do not get rubbing as well as find a good spring rate for comfortable city driving :o)
