Well Nick...
All I can say is WOW!!! It was such a blast and all I was doing was shagging cones! The school started on friday with 4hours of classroom instruction, then Saturday with about 4 more. Then 4 hours of on track experience. All this plus entry for Sunday's race. The total cost...$35!!! I had two main instructors a 65 year old man who drives a Monza Corvair(turbo and full race prepped) and the driving instructor drove a 72 Lotus. I took the begginers class and the corvair guy talked a little about left foot braking but said that the advanced class gets most of the info on that kind of stuff. He said that he learned how to left foot brake in the old days when he was racing Saab rally cars. He said that left foot braking originated from proformance saab drivers, i dont know if that was entirely true but cool none the less. I took my 240Z and was a little perturbed when they put me in the Street Mod 1 class because of my weber carbs. Others in my class were supercharged 5.0 mustangs with slicks, Supercharged CRX, and a few other high horsepower domestics. I was there with street tires and about 125hp AND 30 yr old suspension and bushings. I was the only begginer in my class and ended up with 2nd place. I was behind first(supercharged, bad ass suspension having 5.0)by 2.5 seconds. I ran consistent 34's with the fast time of the day being a competition prepped 600hp mustang that ran a 29.6. I was pumped I had such a blast. Only one donut the whole weekend, I was coming out of the salom and got on it too hard and got the back end around so I just stomped on it and pulled a full 360 when I pulled across te finish line I recieved a standing ovation and tons of cheers from the crowdl, it was nice to see such great support and no chastising for my rookie driving skills. My parents were leary at first but my dad was getting pumped and he is going to come co-drive with me at the next event. I learned so much while I was there. I have straightend my seatback up no longer "gangsta driving" and both hands always on the wheel. All I need to say is WOW!!!
Hope your school goes just as well!!!
