Taylor, are you really using 'Dean' as your handle?

I use a product that ACE harware has on rolls. It is a bubble pack sheet about 1/4" thick with aluminum reflective facing. Its on rolls and you hack off what you need and it is very inexpensive in the quantities that you will be needing. It can be used anywhere under the hood, but don't get it need the exhaust system as the intense radiation is too much for it. I could be secured with aluminum foil duct tape, but then it would not be remove for maintance and be reusalbe again.

I wrap with a strip seamed lengthwise and secure it with 3/4" wide steel paper 'binder' clips from the office supply store. So its easy on, easy off. I have the air box to turbo wrapped, but there is part that gets too much heat near the turbo. And from the IC outlet to the throttle body, and part of the throttle body too. I have that stuff off for the winter, and I will not reinstall until I install my Viggen IC in a few weeks.

The bubble pack provides better insulation than the hi-tech products in the moderate temperature applications under the hood. Close to the exhaust you can use the thermaltec and such products. There seems to be agreement that wrapping the exhaust manifold is asking for trouble... and cracks. Some concerns that wrapping the downpipe might limits its life too. The manfolds have a heat shield from '97 on. I wish I had one of those.
