3" jt exhaust installed...feedback...(long)

loud. i went with the single muffler set up, gutted the stock cat and mated it up with my custom 3.5" downpipe. results are increased flow, but the difference is definitely noticable in the noise department. when i first put on the down pipe, i went 3.5" from the down pipe up to and including a 3.5" high flow cat. after that i tied into the stock turbo system cat-back. the cat went out the window pretty quickly (probably the result of varying fueling conditions while trying to dial in the rrfpr and 30# injectors), and it started to rattle inside pretty badly. i wanted to go straight pipe inplace of the cat, but decided to put in a gutted stock cat in case i'm ever inspected. (btw, the wolf system will allow me to tune the car w/in emission limits for the 'green' folks out there). plus, the 3" jt system tapers to stock diameter for the cat anyway, so even if a straight pipe is added, it has to taper to 2.5" for the cat flanges and then back out. so, i just decided a gutted cat would act as another tank off the exhaust and may help expansion/cooling, maybe not.
end results: noise level is up from previous set up, but not horrible. it definitely has a more pronounced sound. not raspy, ricy or edgy, just a nice solid growl. more noticable at rpms 1500-2500 under heavier loads. my only concern now is other people will know when i get on it, i can't really stealthily spank people, they'll hear the load up. all in all, i like it. just feel like people are watching me a little more...:)
