Bill,
I compared factory ECM's from a '96 9000 Aero and a '98 900 SET, which
both run OBDII Trionic T5, and they have identical connectors but they
are flipped 180 degrees from each other (relative to the housing/mounting
flanges).
I didn't look inside to verify, but as others say - looks easy to open
and rotate the guts to suit your needs. I don' think you "got screwed"
or anything, since these ECM's *should* be interchangeable.
For myself, I'm ordering the Electronics manual for the SET before I try
plugging in the Aero box...must verify the pinouts so I don't fry one/both
of the boxes.
