I have been thinking of doing the same thing, BUT--- on my '87900T the wiring harness/ connector to the APC box doesn't have wires/ plugs for the pins that aren't used with the stock setup. So, presumably you would have to (1) open up the connector and fit a new female plug into position 19; (2) connect a wire to this plug that goes to one leg of the LED that you are installing in the dash (the other leg of the LED goes to a 12V source).
One of the things I was concerned about was how careful you have to be about shielding the wire--- I have read some comments on this board about the APC/ knock sensor being sensitive to electronic noise.
If I am way wrong on any of this, please let me know! I have been wanting to do this mod, but have been a little worried about just how complicated it might be...
