does it sound like a really faint light rattling in the background? i have the same with mine. spring strength may make a difference, but you have vacuum pulling open on the valve when cruising. this helps to 'unseat' the valve allowing it to float. you probably notice that when you load up the engine a little bit, it stops. btw, the piston face, facing the pressure side (i.e. t/b) is not backwards. the pressure buildup on the i/c side of the throttle plate when the throttle slams shut should push up on the piston. would it really even work backwards? maybe the vaccum hose pull would help lift it off it's seat and allow air to pass through backwards. fwiw, i tried a heavier spring and got a slamming surge on the highway when i had little boost for passing and then relaxed the throttle. since the spring was so heavy, it didn't lift under low boost situations and went back into the compressor. not a good situation...
