and having a blast. You obviously don't know SCCA autocross. It is usually a very tight course that takes a good car and driver 30 sec. to 90 sec. to run. People run all kinds of machines and nobody laughs or makes fun of anyone. In my 99 its all second gear. At my last event the most impressive runs were by a guy in a Healey 100-4 that he has been running since'61, a bit lumpy and obviously revamped over and over but he came close to matching the bad dudes in their heavily modified Vettes and he was quiet and Oh so smoooooth. So Taylor, do it! Run smooth and don't thrash your car. Walk the course and pay attention to the regulars. Go out the first time easy to do the run without hitting any cones and then work up speed in next run. I feel great if each run is a bit faster than the last. The skill is in learning how to handle the transitions in steering, accelerating, and braking. If you watch the cars run and pay attention to their times it is often the very smooth and quiet who time out the best. At our events you can often ride with one of the 'old timers' and have them ride with you. The guys who are really into it are usually very open for questions and teaching you what they know. It is not a 'race' it is you and your car against yourself. Your set up will probably run well, though the turbo engine will not be able to stay on boost, left foot braking may help, but watch out for the power up as boost comes in.
