A modified ECU is as reliable as the original. The only thing that changes is the software. As for killing the tranny, you bet. The stock tranny isn't up to handling stock output, so yeah, the second you upgrade you will stress it even further... As for fuel economy, it should change much under normal driving, but if you've got a lead foot, the increased power *will* show up at the pump. Remember, every unit of fuel can produce a fixed amount of horsepower... if you start making more power, you'll use a corresponding amount of additional fuel.
