I'm going in through hood. My hood has two a/c air intakes(left and right side.) I'm using the intake on drivers side since it serves no purpose by mounting a scoop there. I need to do more research if rain will be a problem. Maybe the rain won't be a problem since I need a long flexible hose, maybe like a shop vac. one. The rain would collect in the groves and finally drain into the stock air filter housing where it will go out through the drain holes. This air should be cooler than the stock position above the fender and will force air into the engine like an air ram. Will let you guys know how it works.
I have seen air ram below air filter. This seems like it would be prone to dirt and water getting into system. Cutting through fender as I have seen seems like alot of work(relocating stuff etc., cutting and finishing. Search for these in archives. Best. KB
