Hey everyone
I installed my 30# Bosch FMS fuel injectors in my 1990 SPG today. I was kind of hesistant with the installation. Though I might run into some serious problems. I was really suprised to see how VERY easy installation was! Took me about 40 minutes and I've never done anything with the fuel rail or injectors before. I watched Mike (WASSAAB) install my Trent RRFPR, but that's about it. I used instructions on a past c900 BB posting.
Bought the injectors from StangNet.com (thanks Vince T!), a mustang website with a classified section. They were used for about a month, and still in perfect condition, visibly & mechanically. $110 for EIGHT... shipped! Split the other 4 with GM.
For the AMM Tweak... I went to Radio Shack and got a 3 packs of resistors. There was 5 resistors in each package. Only 99cents each. They are as follows...
270 ohm
33 ohm
10 ohm
At first I went with a 270 & a 33. I twisted them together in series. I tied them into the orange wire coming out of the AMM. Didn't have a ohm meter, but should've been right around 300 ohms.
I drove around from place to place for about an hour or so and could immediatly feel the power gain. Not only when the turbo spools up does it allow more fuel, but it gives more all around power too! I was happy with the two resistors until I finally came to a stop in traffic for about 2 or 3 minutes and noticed it was idling just a little too high for my preferece. About 1300-1400 RPMs. It could work, but I wanted it to be perfect. I'm picky ( :
I just came back inside from re-do'ing the AMM tweak. I now have a 270, a 33, and a 10 ohm resistor in series tied into the orange wire coming out of the AMM. Let it idle for about 3 minutes... perfect! About 1100-1200 RPMs. Just how I like it.
Don't bother with the 24# injectors, definatly go with 30# injectors. I was really set on 24# injectors, but then was talked into these 30#'ers. Glad went with them. It doesn't run rich. Don't be afraid to go 30# like I was! ( :
Just thought I'd let you guys know my results. Again another performance modification completed thanks to your insight & help. Thanks to everyone!
If you'd like to ask any questions or discuss anything about the install, injectors, purchasing, etc... drop me an email! I really recommend checking out that website and getting an awesome deal like I did. Anyone can install these things, seriously.
Feel free to respond or ask questions.
Cya!
