... because the T7 has a air mass sensor. The sensor is before the turbo. So it tells the ECU what the air flow is. When the dump valve dumps air flow the ECU is then briefly injecting fuel for the dumped air as well. The mixture is briefly very rich and the engine can stumble, you can also get a check engine light. I don't know if that is from the O2 sensor detecting the mixture problem or if the problem is sensed otherwise.
This limitation would apply to any air mass sensor equiped (turbo) vehicle.
And no, turbo diesels do not have dump or bypass valves, becuase there is no throttle plate to close.....
