I don't really know what to say here. I suppose I'm just concerned about having too much boost perhaps. Here's the deal:
As most of you know I live in the southern most part of the State of Georgia, and during the day here it's easily 90F outdoors. At night it's better at about 70F or slightly less, but not much more. The humidity stays above 60% most of the time, so this place is a SWAMP for sure.
I recently fitted the complete JT 3" exhaust system on my car(still no cat yet)and while the car does pull alot stronger above say 3,500 rpms but, I'm concerned that I might be either getting too much boost or over stressing the car in some way. Before the exhaust and at the above temps(Night 70F)I could pull about 17 psi and hold it there. With the new exhaust fitted, the car is just insane to drive, lots of fun and I love it......However, It now pulls closer to 19psi and holds easily 18psi of that(about 1/2 into red). I think it even touched 20psi at one point but, I only looked for a second....gotta watch the road you know! With all the threads I've read here over the past week, and all the reading I've done while using the search feature I'm begining to realize that some others here are getting less boost pressures while they obviously live in much cooler places or have the same if not more mods than I do. What gives here? I also am pretty sure that if it's say 70F at night here and it's in the middle of JUNE, then wouldn't that mean that as the year goes on and the temps at night drop down to say 40F or so, I'd easily be able to see more boost than what I'm already getting. Will that be 20psi, 22psi, or more psi...? I haven't a clue but, I'm just concerned that's all. That perhaps I should have more fuel or something than I already do, or that I've missed a mod that will cost me in the near future?
Here's what I have already:
Stage #1 APC
2.8 FPR
20 psi BPV
B-Bore T-body
27Lb (Blue Series) Injectors
K&N Filter
Magnecore 8mm Wires
I think that's all.... I also have the base boost at a little lower than stock specs = 5.0 psi vs. 5.5 psi and I was thinking about setting it to the stock specs of 5.5 or even 6.0 psi but, wouldn't this just push the max boost up by another 2 or more psi perhaps? Not that I wouldn't mind but want to make sure I'm being smart about it that's all and that more problems won't come up because of this. So if I did this I'd probably be pushing 20+ psi in 70F right? Even more when it starts to get cold out?
Is that safe?
Thanks All,
Phil
