My 92 9000t sounded great when I removed the resonator, no to loud, but it was nice when you got on it. I'd ditch the resonator and replace the rear muffler with a piece from borla or magnaflow (straight through design with a perferated core) or if you want it to be a little quieter go with a baffled design usually called a "turbo muffler" by the exhaust shops.
Remember the turbo does a decent amount of "muffling" itself and this set up will provide enough back pressure, give you some more power and a pleasant sound.
Chad
ps
Too little back pressure can hurt; My exhaust severed right after the cat and drove it around a bit to see what it would be like. The engine felt soggy down low, but the top end was ridiculous. I wouldn't recomend it for a daily driver.
