Dude I fugure that from listening to you and hearing what your guesses were about that VW's potential being like a 12-13 second car, perhaps his was tuned by them. It's true, before I got into SAAB's I was a pretty big fan of VW's, even owned and tricked out a few of them some years back, maybe 4-5 yrs now. Either way the EIP tuned ones are some the most potent VW's on this planet. I remember seeing up close one of these things, at a VW gathering in Florida. It was crazy stupid under the hood. As you know the GLX or VR6 models come stock with with a 2.8 Lt engine and produced about 180hp almost. This particular car had been punched out to a 3.1 Lt or 3.2 Lt IIRC, and then had a complete turbo system bolted to it. It's claimed output was near 400hp and I had the fever for that flavor big time....I soon got away from the VW crowd and came over to SAAB's because they are already turbo charged, and less expensive to modify and generally nicer all around. trying to beef up the VR6 doesn't come cheap but the results can be pretty impressive when done right. Those turbo kits alone run about $6,000 easily. The boring out of the engine or increasing it'd displacement cost like another $5,000 or more. Hell, even 280 degree cams for it are near $1,000 and those polished-up/extrude honed intake manifolds are about $1,600 or more. Then someones gotta get paid for doing all the work and I'm sure more than these parts would be needed to get that thing to push that kinda power. I had done alot to my car but, to really make them fly you gotta open up the engines on um. When I got to the cams stage, I said forget it, no way was I gonna put that kinda money into a car that was only two yrs old and the sunroof had already went sour. I decide then that VW's aren't built all that great and it must have something to do where they are built(it isn't Germany). Besides I was still paying $400 a month for that puppy, yuck! My 15yr old SAAB 9000T is made better even considering it's age. I can mod it all I want to, cause I don't owe crap on it and the ins is like $20 a month, and I know that it'll beat the crap outta that VR6 I had.....

Take Care,
Phil
