And Yes, let me tell you, it truely does improve spool-up between shifts! I didn't even need to adjust the BOV or anything. I remove the stock bypass valve and accompanying pipe that connects it back into the intake and temporarily plugged it with a bottle cap. I have to cut the pipe coming off the intake tube (After the intercooler) to shorten it so the BOV would fit under the hood. It was a tight sqeueeze getting pipe to expand around the fitting, but with some prodding and a clamp it held nicely. Totaly easy install. Had to reroute the vaccum hose (Very minor) so it would reach the little nipple on the BOV.
As for the sound, yeah, it's very apparent w/ all the windows open. It will go off even at minor pressures, not just WOT. But, when your getting on it, the pressure release sounds omewhat like a crack of a whip. My buddy has a 97 2.0 Jetta w/ aftermarket turbo and same BOV and it doesn't go off as much. He's running only about 6 lbs of boost. As for the spool up, it is most definately improved and boost comes on stronger and quicker. So, I say, it you want quicker spool up, and don't mind the release of pressure, go score yourself up one of these. I sponged mine off Ebay fer pretty cheap and it took less that 1/2 hour to install and 2 beers. Oh, by the way, no "check engine" lights or anything. It's all good. Would anyone be interested in seeing any pics under the hood? I can take them, but don't have a website to link to this BB. Any other way to post pics?
Have fun,
Ride on!
