I just took a quick peek, and AEM's race system (as opposed to their plug and play system) can do distributorless, ie. direct ignition systems. Whether it would integrate into the Saab DI is another question.
As Kooch posted earlier, one should choose what ECU one wants based on budget and desired options. For me, the SDS choice was simple - they are made in Calgary, which is 3 hours' drive away. Not to mention better than purchasing anything in the US, the Canadian dollar still isn't that strong against the US dollar. Also, the guys at SDS were and continue to be extremely helpful, friendly, no nonsense guys.
I'm told that the best is Motec, but I really have no idea, haven't looked into any others in detail other than SDS. I'm attaching a link to the SDS site where they then link to a few other competitors. Not listed is Wolf (but Kooch has a link to that earlier) and of course you know where to find the AEM stuff. One other I would mention is the Weber Alpha system. It would probably be difficult to get support for the system on this side of the pond, I believe it's manufactured in England. Their ignition only systems use Weber carbs, but the higher end ignition and fuel systems use individual throttle bodies. Demon Tweeks can supply (http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk). I don't know if any of these stand alone systems can do boost control. My SDS will not, and I'll be using a GReddy Profec-B boost controller for that.
