Some or most have probably done this. On my 88 spg, I took out the a\c over a year ago. When you open the hood, there's a rubber type gasket that is bolted to the hood and forms a seal around the a\c unit that's mounted in the fire wall. After I drove my car a while, I pulled over and put my hand over this duct. A little bit of heat was rising out of it. Went home, grabbed torx driver and took off this rubber gasket. Drove car, pulled over and put hand over vent. The amount of heat coming out of this opening now with the gasket pulled off is amazing. I'm posting this because we are all striving for that little extra bit of power and cooling. Since this opening is upstream from the turbo, there must be an increase in cooling when idleing and I would think even more when at speed. My 2 cents..
