Gotta disagree with John here... on a 16v car you do not want to operate the vehicle any more than necessary until it's repaired. 16v Saabs run more peak boost than any car without a bypass/dump valve (~12psi), and without some sort of device to relieve boost pressure you run a very serious risk of damaging the compressor wheel. The noise you're hearing may be "turbo flutter" and is caused by the intake charge slamming into the compressor - the result of this can be damage to the vanes and failure of the turbo. The more boost you run, the more quickly the problems will happen. A friend of mine nuked the turbo on her '91 Monte Carlo convertible in less than 2,000 miles due to a failed bypass valve and a Group6 22psi APC box. At the very least, go find a stock bypass valve from a wrecked car and replace the Abbott unit - it ain't pretty but it'll work til you source a more durable replacement...
