I recently removed the entire ac system from my '89 SPG. You can get the evaporator out, the piece that sits in the corner but I had to remove that servo device on the pass. side for it to clear. Once everything is out including the front condensor you can purchase a stock piece of plastic to cover up where the evaporator was and a filter that fits inside. This came on cars without ac. I ordered these parts from the dealer. Remove the ac idler bearing also. I agree with Vince if you're not putting the sytem back in snip the belt with a pair of diagonals. Biggest improvement was getting rid of the extra weight.
