Shortening wastegate rod on 90 SPG.. quick Q's?

Hey all!
I have a 90 SPG with some modifications... a link to my page is below for specifics. I peak at 22psi, and that's all the max boost I want to push right now, especially because the Mitsu turbo is useless past 18psi. Turbo swap down the road.. T3/T4? ( :
Next step-- reducing turbo lag and turbo spike.
My next three modifications are a 3" downpipe (reduce lag), SPG9 stage2 APC (reduce spike), and a George's Imports H2O system (to really put this psi to use).
For now... I have been told by an independant saab shop (Lititz SAAB) to shorten my wastegate rod. Keeping in mind, my SPG is slightly more modified that the cars they have. They do know their stuff though, I've seen their quality work. They're lightening my flywheel this Thursday actually!
They told me to shorten it 3 complete turns (6 half turns) to increase my base boost & max boost. Now, my max boost is fine, almost too much (yes, I have the fuel mods to support it), but I'm wondering if this will help my overall performance. I might only turn it 3 half turns, or possibly 2 complete turns (4 halves).
Currently my wastegate is set to stock base boost. Never adjusted.
Any thoughts here?! Is this just stupid (slightly losing APC's control), or a useful "mod" to get a little more 'UMPFH' from my turbo?
Cya at SOC!!
Thanks!!
Taylor
