And low and behold-it works! The whole project too 6.5 hours. Last weekend I took ic out and cleaned it for the first time in it's 14 yr existance. I was surprised that there was not much gunk in it. There was a little oil, but thought more would be present. Cleaned w\carb cleaner-just poured it in, shook it around, let it sit and did it until cleaned. Cleaned all ic tubes and TB.
I mounted the fan the cheap way-coat hangers. The fan is a spal 7.5" pull-very quiet. I was able to feed wire through the fins and mount the fan while it sat on the lower edge of the ic. Filled with water to see if I ruined it-nope. The fan does not move which amazed me-super solid. I also took some of the hoses in front of ic and moved them out of the way using zip ties and such. I bought a 10$ fog light relay kit and mounted relay next to apc.The hot wire runs to the starter. Ran 1 wire into interior through hole that speedo cable runs through, to switch. Installed tiny on-off swith to the left of ashtray-can hardley see it unless it's lit. All hot wires have fuses per brad's suggestion. Wired switch to dimmer.
This was easier than I thought. Just took time mounting switch, fan and running wires.
I ran car with it off and on to see the difference and there is one. With it on, the car runs cooler around town and idles a little higher. It's amazing how much air is moved with this fan. I ran car at full boost which is a little higher, but the biggest bang is that the car sustains boost much better now. If you pull over after running car hard. and put hand behind fan, you can feel the heat off the ic droping in temp.
Whole cost=70 bucks and well worth it.
The car just seems to run better around town with the fan on..
I would reccomend this mod.
Time for a beer:)
