However, I sent a spare ECU and although I said that was what I was going to do (it wasn't even from an Aero and I was ordering an Aero Stage 2 upgrade) they ended up simply upgrading what I sent. It turned out to be software that wouldn't work properly in my car, although it would run in base boost and light the "check engine" light. I really don't know whether it was their fault or mine. However, Johnny was answering my queries by email well into the evening (I'm in the UK, so we're not far apart time-wise) and said he'd send out a new ECU and I could return the "faulty" one when I got the new one. He asked about VSS and I said I had it, so he asked for the serial number. When I got it, it all worked well.
The "spare" ECU I sent was originally, I believe, from a US-spec '94 9K CSE, built before VSS was introduced.
