Joe,

I first would ask... why don't you want mufflers? Because normally they are accused of cutting power and messing up exhaust flow? Probably. But anyhow, let me explain what i did when i had my exhaust done on my 92 9KS. I went with a mix of 2.25 and 2.5, that way i get some nice flow, but don't lose all my backpressure (and low end torque). I went with a 2.25 stainless high flow cat, 2.5 inch pipe, into a 2.25 inch resonator tube (mellows out the overall sound) 2.5 inch pipe again, into a 2.5 inch muffler in the rear, then just a lil more 2.5 inch pipe into a resonated tip (stainless). The piping and mufflers are all aluminized steel, so it should easily outlast the car. I used magnaflow, which is a straight through muffler, no baffles or anything, just a perforated core and that's all. They sound very very nice, and i know alot of people say that and it really doesn't, but i've gotten nothing but compliments from both car lovers and haters on this exhaust (my mom hates it but they always do). And as far as loudness, i used the resonater along with the muffler to mellow out the sound and keep it from being too loud. Between the resonator, muffler, and tip, it all comes together quite nicely. No mufflers on the other hand, would just sound awful, don't even go there or think about it. Like i said, i used magnaflow, mix of 2.25 and 2.5 (on your turbo you could actually go with 3, turbos love to breathe!) and a stainless steel high flow cat. The whole thing from downpipe (i got a used one from a friend) to tailpipe cost me 550, that's the cat, resonator tube, muffler, tip, all piping, installation, and an O2 sensor. Hope i was of some help to you.
