Greetings!

The Gods have a sense of humor. After two years of progressive mods and tweaks, last week the Stealthbomber reached the design target. I romped the hilly backroads of NW Wisconsin this weekend and couldn't get the smile off my face for hours. But there's cause for concern in Pit Row. Read on...

After getting base boost set and Dawes Device installed in-line between turbo and BCV, my modestly modded SPG is running like a race car. It was peaking at 9/8 red (yeah, beyond red), responding like she was on the track, hooter making happy noises and car generally was more alive and responsive than she has ever been.

Then I checked the oil and noticed she has used MUCH more oil than normal. (After cracked piston last fall, mechanic rebuilt motor; oil consumption has diminished with break-in but still lingers, probably more than before rebuild. There's a minor leak at oil cooler but I think the consumption is internal; perhaps rings never fully set.)

Please share suggestions for diagnostics, things I can check, etc, to determine what the cause is and what the priority is for $$ attention. She's on the original turbo (>250k on it) but I don't want to replace/upgrade it unless/until necessary.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Jim Watts
