If you inspect the manifold you might find the letters NiCr cast in to the manifold, this is and important clue. When welding a flange on to the manifold you will find the best way to make the hole is to weld on your flange or tube then bore the hole on a verical mill, You will have to sharpen your tooling sevearl times.
As for position of waste gate outlet, make sure it is after the last cylinder port as flow in the manifold needs to be in one direction. Placing the waste gate at cylinder 1 port on a classic 900 when turbo is mounted after cylinder 4 will result in a loss of efficency. The port on the turbine houshing is technicaly in the correct postion as related to exhaust flow.
