I switched to 5W40 Mobil Delvac One from Mobil One 10W30 and found the engine quieter and smoother. Some others have reported improvements of this sort, but few NG900 folks have tried this. I have 144000 miles. So the cleanances in a mature engine may be an issue.
I also have around a 6% improvement in mpgs which is real nice. Hard to say at this point if the oil formua is responsible for this or the W40.
So I encourage you to try a thicker oil. But a W50 might not be needed. But I am only guessing that the W50 might not be the vest choice. And avoid the group III quazi synthetics like Castol FakeTec(tm).
So try the thicker oils. Its not much money for one oil VS another, and I think that a W50 or W40 will provide improvements that you can feel and hear.
