Turbo will spin up a bit faster. But if you have a restrictive air box...
The filter will have less air pressure drop. The pressure drops are greater at high CFMs or RPMs. So there will be less drop off of torque. If the turbo boost is dropping at those RPM's, then there will be a bit less of that and you will feel more strength at high RPM's. If the system maintains boost pressure thru high RPM's, then the turbo will work less hard to overcome the pressure drop which will allow for cooler charge air and less backpressure from the wastegate and turbine which robs shaft HP as it acts on the pistons. And you get more strength.
When you are not on throttle and pushing some RPMs, there will not be any percieved power increase. If the turbo spins up a bit faster, thats nice, as 'power delayed id power denied'. But if you want boost to come on quickly, you need more than a K&N filter.
I have been running the same K&N for 7 years in my 95SET.
