Ok, this is sort of a stretch to be considered a performance question,
AND, I've posted this question on the 9000 board, but the lack of
response has me thinking that maybe I should post on this board.
My problem is that I can't seem to get my brakes working on my
'94 Aero. I replaced the hydraulic unit, which was working fine but
had a lot of miles and corrosion, along with all four brake lines.
Well, after going through the procedure of running the pump and
opening the outlet valves on the valve block, as outlined in the Saab
service manual, then bleeding the brakes, I'm still unable to get
any pedal - unless I pump the pedal a few times. I think the master
cylinder is the culprit. Now, the manual has a section entitled
"Component removal/fitting" and it covers the master cylinder.
However, when I went to my local Saab dealer, they said that
I couldn't buy a kit to rebuild the master (Ate), nor could I buy
a master cylinder. They want $1600 for the whole hydraulic unit
I'm sure my pump and motor are fine - I heard them running when
I did the procedure preceding the bleed. Surely, someone on
this board can possibly direct me to a source that has rebuild
kits for the Ate (it's the Mark IV -no TCS- system) or maybe a
new master cylinder?
