Jim. I have to admit I hadn't thought of the hot gas exit, I was more concerned with cool air inlet.
I have problems with sheet metal cutting:
asthetic (NACA style is lesser, but still don't really want 'holes' in me bonnet!)
Logistics=How?!damned if I'm going to try to cut holes=££££ and heartache when it goes wrong.!
Over here in the UK BMW has just release a modified M3. This has a huge intake (photo makes hole appear to be fist/tennis ball size) where the foglight would be on my 2.3T. This is carried straight up to the inlet manifold. (which appears to be directly in line with this hole)
If I get rid of the foglight(s), and duct straight from the passenger(drivers side US) foglight into the air box, I will get a similar thing (with more turns and corners)
I reckon I could get a strong rubber pipe (similar to the one from AMM to turbo) attached linking this hole to a hole cut in the airbox. This would in fact be almost straight in line, and would also be away from (almost) all water.
Again other comments appreciated
