It's almost certainly the 4-door. The 3-door has a massive opening in back with absolutely no cross-bracing - the flat floor coupled with the wide opening makes for a serious lack of torsional rigidity. The big doors and tiny b-pillar don't help the situation much as all.
What I can say is that comparing my 2-door vs. my 3-door vs. my 4-door vs. my 5-door, the 2-door is by far the stiffest and the 3-door the most flexible as judged by own impression and by the "jack it up and open and close the doors" test. Surprisingly, I can't tell much of a difference between the 5-door and the 4-door, lending some support to the "big door" theory. With one corner of the ol' 5-door up in the air, all four doors open and close normally - this isn't even possible on the 3-doors.
My $0.02...
