This past Sunday I installed the new spring and adjustable ride height setup that Georges Imports now offers for the classic 900.

The adjustment ranges from racecar low to off road vehicle high. Basically there are several inches of vertical adjustment on all four corners. The fronts are adjustable from the engine bay. All you need is a half-inch socket driver. The rears require that the car be jacked up to relieve tension on the spring which then allows the adjuster to be spun to either raise or lower the car.

The best part to me though is the springs themselves. You can get virtually any combination of spring rates to allow for the tuning of your handling setup. The springs I had installed before were Intrax, which are 492 lbs. in the front and around 530 lbs. in the rear. This combined with a rear sway bar from S.A.S. provided decent handing. I would describe the car as having a moderate under steer, which could be, relieved somewhat by getting on the gas in the middle of a corner.

The new spring combination setup is now 500 lbs. in the front and 650 lbs. in the rear. This combination has transformed the handling characteristics of my c900. A preliminary description would have me describing the handling as neutral at worst. The rear of the car feels like its planted solid. Further aggressive cornering is required though to determine how and what the limits are now.

Another neat future is that handling can be further fine tuned by just adding inserts into the spring coils just like they do on Winston Cup cars. I have some 75 lb. inserts for the rear springs, which I will try out in several weeks to see what happens with the handling.

Some of you may be wondering about comfort. The funny thing is that for most types of irregularities in the road, the feedback is much less harsh feeling than my previous setup. That being said, the ride is definitely not that of a Cadillac.

I would rate this upgrade as an A+; it most certainly being the best suspension upgrade option yet or ever for a c900.
