From what I can see w/ wider larger diameter rims, if you want to run more than -0.5deg camber it's best to go w/ the smaller offset 32-35. If you want + to -0.5deg might want to go w/ 35-40. That's what I predict. I haven't tried these numbers on all different size rim/tires but what I estimate from 18x7.5's w/ 225/40's, which are pretty freakin big and about the limit.
Your problem is that 27 offset and a 225 tire. I ran 225's (actually probably more @ 230mm) w/ a 40mm offset w/ -0.5deg camber. I got light tire-spring spring rub on full turn. With 17 and 18's, it's playing w/ the offset and the camber and what you ask yourself is how much camber do you want to run? Now w/ 16x6.5's you have clearance problems to deal w/ too so I'm not even if you can use a 40mm offset. Might want to go w/ the 32-35mm offset and then pull them in w/ more neg camber. GM runs 225 w/, I believe, a 32mm offset. See what camber the alignment shop gave him.
I had a set of 215/60/15's on a 15x6 rim w/ 33mm offset before w/ the -0.5deg camber and the tread fit just under the lip. So w/ +5mm more on both sides you just need a little more neg camber to pull them in.
Other option: smaller tires, rolling the fenders, or cutting the fenders out and welding in widebody flares.
