your out of your mind. Going from 180-185 to 0 in the blink of an eye..your body won't take that. It doesn't matter what you have holding your head in place. Dale hit the wall almost completely head on and lost all forward momentum and then was pushed along by Kenny S. You hit the tree at an angle and spun out...indicating that your forward momentum was somewhat deflected instead of being stopped completely.
That being said if he was in a F1 car he may have survived as the body would have come apart and absorbed more of the impact but I doubt it.
