If you don't already have leaks, you shouldn't expect to see any just because you switched. I bought my '90 900 with 113k mi on it, & previous maintenance records (& mechanic's notes) showed very low concern for regular oil changes. As I had work done on the car, I would also have nearby leaking seals replaced. I switched over to Syntec "full syn" at 120k with no problems. Now, at 160k mi, I've switched to Mobil 1 ("real full syn") & still have no problems. (It wasn't economically viable to fix ALL the leaks, so it still leaks some. My neighbor refused to run syn in his restored '56 MG-A 'cuz it leaked so much; "by design," according to him.)
And Dick's point is well taken: is the car worth it? Or maybe more to the point, is it worth it TO YOU?
