I have an 86 9kt with modded A.P.C,hybrid turbo,3" exhaust,ect,ect.I was until recently running standard turbo and 18psi without any mods to wastegate actuator/bleed valve(other than altering length of rod ).i carried out all the mods myself and for very little money.i would definatley not recommend unplugging APC box as you loose all safety control(knock sensor etc)and also think there are much better,cheaper and safer ways to increase boost than crude bleed valves and butchering wastegate springs/valves.some adjustment is beneficial but too much means BANG.by the way im not an old fart talking about adding 10bhp to my car-the more horses the better,but not at the expense of a rebuild every 5k.hope this helps.
