I would think that there are plenty of combinations you could have with different springs (stock, spg, intrax, others, etc..) and shocks (stock, koni adjustable, bilsteins, others, etc..) and anti-roll bars. You should be able to find something that suits your style that is little more than bolt on and have fun.
I think of IRS as a system for RWD/AWD where the rear wheels need optimum rubber burning traction along with good handling. On FWD cars like our
Saab, engine power does not hurt the rear wheels traction like a RWD car, so IRS isn't a modern necessity on these cars.
I just spent 3 days in NH putting lots of miles on my Viggen in the White Mountains. It was fun and comfortable, but I'd also like to try it in my 88 900T with intrax/group6 springs and bilstein shocks. It would be a rough ride on the western part of the kangamangus, but real nice on the east part, or real nice on the other nice winding highways.
P.S. I only saw one police vehicle out driving around patrolling during my three days of traveling on 93, 302, and 112. Most I saw were busy encouraging safe driving at construction areas on the highways.
