little bit more info..... Posted by ryan [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Fronts are not as easy!, Jeff Cunningham, Thu, 10 Oct 2002 16:57:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
When i did the rears, i had to unbolt the shocks for clearance. I thought that would be enough, but i guess not! i then had to take off the control arms to let it lower more. Seems easy, but the gastank was in the way, so i had to drop the tank. Really not THAT bad if you're expecting it, but still a PITA. The fronts are somewhat difficult if you don't know what to do, but QUITE simple if you do. Go to the auto parts store and get a strut spring compressor. It's two seperate assemblies, one for each side of the spring. They each use U-bolts that connect to the spring, so you really can't hurt yourself. You can't get them to be on the exact opposite side of the spring, so it will deform (the spring) so that it is very bent looking (but it's just fine, they won't be used again, and they bounce back anyway). The reason i say that you need to do this is because regular scissor-type spring removers are POS, seriously. They don't work worth crap and I would have shot the one i was using had i not borrowed it. Anyway, i'm not trying to discourage you at all, cause it's completely worth it (i've got intrax's too :)) , but just wanted to give you a heads up on the process. GOOD LUCK!!!
