The K&N will provide less pressure drops, which become a issue at high RPMs. But the T7 will provide the torque that it wants to, and may role off the torque above 5500 where most non-T7 setups would have boost droop anyways. But the K&N will make the boosting system more efficient* and that would show up on a dyno I expect. A modified ECU might benefit even more.
If you get a K&N when the vehicle is new, then by cleaning it, there is a reduced cost of ownership, assuming that you do things correctly.
* for the same pressure and CFM's less flow resistance to overcome, means that the turbo works less hard, less shaft HP is required from the turbine, so the wastegate will be more open, creating less pressure drop across the turbine, which is less backpressure on the pistons, which is more engine shaft HP.
