I e-mailed MSD to let them know of the poblem I am having. This is the message I sent and below it is the reply that I got back.
Attention Silvia(MSD Tech)
I just received my Boost Timing Master back from your repair center and it is still acting the same way. My question is with the stock retard eliminated shouldn't the btm retard timing in a strait line??? I ask because after graphing it there are some flat spots. Also it is retarding the timing even when I have the dial set to "0". Will you look this over and tell me what you think.
This is how I installed it:
white wire attached to wire off coil negative
orange to coil negative plug
red to coil positive plug
black to ground
This is how I tested it:
I attach the vacuum line coming off the btm to an air compressor and a psi gauge(0-20psi) Then I pumped in each psi and read the timing with a digital timing light at each psi.
I have attached a graph of my tests in a Bitmap(*.BMP) format. If you have problems reading it please let me know and I will give you the numbers.
I know that the unit is still not working correctly. Please let me know what you think and what I should do.
THIS WAS THEIR REPLY:
> Sir
> We really have no idea what you are looking at and why you are
performing your diagnostic in this fashion. All units that come back for
repair are put on a repair bench, and then are put on a 'burn-in' rack for 4
hrs. at 4,000 rpm, taken back off and bench tested again checking for
correct operation under heat and stress conditions all while checking the
function of the boost retard for correct operation.

----------------------
Will you look at the graph I have done and see if I am crazy, or they just dont understand what I am trying to say. I will email it to you in Bitmap(*.BMP) format. it should be easy to open in a paint program.
I have not been able to call them yet. From the reply i got back from them I dont know if it will do any good.
Should have gone with spg9's aid :)
