The battery can be a factor, and can be resposible for similar issues with stock ECU's. Suggest that you check the electrolyte levels in your battery, and check terminal connections for tightness and condition.
When the engine fails on a fuel cut, what light and messages do you get.
Why are you getting a fuel cut? With the Abbott mods, I believe that you need to exceed 22 PSI to trigger that. Or, are you hitting the RPM limiter?
Check the condition of the ECU fuse, number 17 I believe. This will also have the effect of resetting the ECU, which also has some merit.
If you loose instruments when the engine quits, check fuse 17 and ignition switch could be faulty. If you are not getting any where, try reseating the ECU connector. If the ECU looses power, it would also loose any fault codes.
