I've never considered the pre-87 C900 breaks as weak, as long as you've got vented rotors and not the solid ones. It's possible to lock them up, what more breaking do you want? The main reason for going to the later hubs is for a rear e-brake, As for wheels, ronal, and any other quality new wheel, should be available in the correct bolt pattern,
